From Concept to Emotion: How VISBOOM Turned My Images into Experiences

Wiki Article

someone who creates visual imagery, my perception was always that taking an image was sufficient enough to tell a story. I would create the composition, set the light and hope that the final product expressed the feeling I wanted to convey. However, through experience, I discovered that no matter how well I prepared the shot, I still felt a disconnect between the idea in my mind and what I produced on film. In fact, I could only capture a fraction of the concepts and ideas that existed in my imagination. I wanted an intimate atmosphere, subtle moods, and filmic elements. I did not have the resources available to create these environments, such as multiple locations, trained models and specialized lighting equipment. This gap between what existed in my imagination and what I could accomplish with my equipment created incredibly frustrating experiences for me as a photographer and artist.

When I began using VISBOOM, my perspective completely changed. Initially, I approached the software as if it were a basic enhancement tool which would clean up or retouch my images. To my surprise, VISBOOM turned out to be an amazing creative partner for me; it was more than just a way to edit my images, it helped me to take my intangible thoughts and concepts and give them form through visual representation. All of a sudden, my photographs were not limited to the physical restrictions of my equipment, nor was I restricted to just one timeframe to create and finish my project now I had the freedom to explore the various possibilities of my imagination.

The first time I utilized VISBOOM was for a basic client project for a boutique candle company. The directive was "Subtle Serenity." This type of image is not something I could create using my traditional video equipment. Instead, I took the product on my typical flat surface, natural light coming in from the side, and no props. I then uploaded the image to VISBOOM and started exploring what was possible. Within minutes, I had an image with the candle sitting in a softly lit, early morning room with soft shadows and muted textures, creating a very tranquil environment. It was more than just an improved photo it was a representation of an emotional experience that I would never have been able to capture with just my camera. I realized VISBOOM provided a way to connect my concepts to reality by transforming abstract emotions into something relatable to viewers visually.

Upon realizing that I could now produce works that were previously limited only by my talents and creativity, I dedicated myself to experimenting with and pushing the boundaries of what I was able to achieve. I began creating and developing scenes that I had only imagined. I tested the use of lighting mood, as well as the manipulation of the environment, with an eye for using even the tiniest details to add to the emotion and theme of each image in a way that felt alive, cinematic, or intimate. I viewed every created image as an exploration of a specific space and experience a small secluded area of a room with natural light streaming in a rainy day with reflections against a windowpane or a well lit scene that flooded the studio with warm golden tones. Every scene has its own unique tone and allows the opportunity to utilize and explore storytelling techniques in a much greater scale than previously possible through traditional photography.

While VISBOOM made my visuals much better, it also changed my workflow dramatically. I used to spend hours moving and manipulating props, adjusting lighting, and re-editing tiny details on a single image, which often drained the creative energy used in making that image. VISBOOM allowed for all of these actions to be done much faster and more intelligently than before, allowing me to concentrate on the emotional essence of an image. I was able to create many different narratives as well as experiment with changing the mood and fine tuning the storyline without being tied down or feeling the constant pressure of producing technically correct images. The overall process became less about logistic and more about creative intention.

The highlight of my journey through isolation has been when I put together My ISOLATION Project. This was an opportunity for me to express my concept of isolation, which is the feeling of solitude without feeling lonely. I had spent weeks before this (initially) trying to capture my concept but every attempt was dull and unoriginal and I saw nothing worth using before VISBOOM. Once I started to create with VISBOOM, I began experimenting with the way I present myself, and in less than a day I had taken hundreds of photographs that represent my vision of isolation. I could see the emotion in them for the first time, from the warmth of a sun filled space to the cold shadows cast by a wet rainy day to the visualisation of emptiness between two people sitting in the bus back to back.

With VISBOOM providing me with greater technical and creative ability, it has also provided me with an overall sense of consistency throughout all of my work. All of the work I do, whether it’s portfolio or client based, now has one clear voice visually. Before I started using VISBOOM, images I captured sometimes appeared very disconnected from one another, primarily due to variable lighting and style differences, thus breaking the overall flow of an image. The goal of VISBOOM is to provide everything, whether it be the colour, tone, texture and mood, with the same visual intent. This way, the audience is able to see the true essence of my work immediately. This consistency has become evident through my clients. Many of them will say that the images appear “authentic” and “immersive.” In fact, some of them have gone so far as to say that the images evoke “memories” as opposed to “advertisements.” These comments reinforce what I have always attempted to achieve through my images; to create emotional connections through the images I produce before words ever come into play.

Additionally, through VISBOOM, I have expanded my understanding of what it means to “create.” My definition of creativity has changed from simply “capturing” a moment, whether it be physically or visually, to transferring my thoughts and ideas into a visual experience for my audiences. This has allowed me to concentrate on the story line, the mood, and the emotional experience that I want to create with each image, and to use the tools available to create those images into things that previously were impossible due to my limitations.

In conclusion, VISBOOM has changed completely how I perceive how visuals tell stories. VISBOOM is not intended to take away from the creator's ability to create; it enhances everything a creator does by allowing them to share their unique perspective while allowing for free exploration, experimentation, and expression of their idea. Therefore, my entire creative process is a collaborative discussion between my artistic vision and how I will execute that vision. The final products produced today are immersive experiences of emotion and narratives that result in images being created that do speak for themselves.

Furthermore, VISBOOM has enabled my artwork's authenticity and intentionality to come to life through what I produce. The way I see it, creating powerful visual images goes beyond just having the ability to produce visually perfect images creating powerful visual images means connecting with one another. From this experience, I have gained an understanding that when I create visual images, I am able not only to showcase something visually, but to also tell stories, incite action, and evoke emotions with those visual images. I cherish what this provides me as a creator.
